Bojan Hodak , coach of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) has junked suggestions that luck played a part in his side’s 1-0 win over PKNS in their Super League match at the Larkin Stadium on Friday.
JDT tasted their sweet victory on the third minute of the game from a goal from Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Noor.
Hodak, who assumed control after head coach Cesar Jimenez was advised to take a rest, said his side overwhelmed the match for the hard-battled win.
The Croatian included that his resistance finished extremely well to hold PKNS' foreign strikers – Patrick Wleh and Karlo Primorac – on the water-logged pitch.
Hodak said, “There is no luck in this win ... we had two attempts from Norshahrul (Idlan Talaha) and Luciano (Figueroa) saved on the line by PKNS players, which proves that we dominated the match.”
“I’m very happy with the performances of S. Subramaniam, Mohd Daudsu Jamaluddin and goalkeeper Mohd Izham Tarmizi. They played well to keep a clean sheet.”
“It was a hard game, we couldn’t play our attacking game due to the pitch condition and PKNS had their chances too. This win will be good for the team’s confidence,” Hodak continues.
After playing 12 games, this was JDT’s fifth triumph of the season, placing them in fourth place in the Super League standings with 19 points.
Hodak's surprise appointment as JDT’s caretaker coach has been vigorously scrutinized by their fans yet the previous Kelantan coach said the choice was made by the JDT administration after a poor run in the first half of the Super League.
The 43-year-old caretaker coach additionally uncovered that JDT are looking to help the group by getting Boca Juniors striker, Juan Manuel Martinez. They are at present anticipating an answer from the Argentina club.
Hodak said, “The fans will have to ask the management about the appointment. In football, people will like or dislike you, it’s part and parcel of the game.”
“For me, I’m here to do a job ... Our target is to win silverware this season and what’s important now is we need to win matches,” Hodak concluded.
